Juli 01, 2010
Dear Swiss Club Members:
Alphorn, yodel, folklore dances, fahnen und taler schwingen, ländler music, speeches, songs, children's games, pool, bratwurst, lampions and bonfire......it's all ready again for the Swiss National Day Saturday, July 31, 2010 (yes, we checked the date, it's the Saturday before the first of August) starting 3pm at the Embassy, and if it sounds all too familiar, it is supposed be so, because it is a tradition that we cherish and hold dear and look forward to every year. A special treat will be the speech and toast by the Ambassador himself, Urs Ziswiler. And don't forget the address by the Bundespräsidentin, and the raffle, and the tombola, and the meeting with the compatriots from your favored canton, and the Swiss wine and souvenirs and the beautiful trachten and the colorful t-shirts and everything else that reminds you of Switzerland and is worth celebrating. Thanks in advance to the many volunteers that make this event possible, to the generous sponsors, and also for the consistent and encouraging support by the embassy.
Click here to register, then send the form to Eric, the earlier the better, the more the merrier. I can't wait and I am looking forward to seeing you at this wonderful occasion.

Attention...
Before you make a decision, please think of the following important points:
- Language: Very good knowledge of at least one of the national languages is a prerequisite.
- Educational background: Most educational institutions require specific backgrounds for the admission. Foreign certificates are not always recognised as such.
- Expenses and financing: No education is completely free of charge! Besides the expenses for the actual education, there is also the cost of living to be considered. The questions of funding must be clarified before beginning the education.
- Housing: Cheap accommodation possibilities are rare. It is therefore worthwhile to start looking early.
What is AJAS?
AJAS was founded in 1962 by the Foundation for young Swiss Abroad, the Organisation of Swiss Abroad and the pro juventute Foundation. The office is located in the Organisation of Swiss abroad's building. This non-profit association is mainly financed by subsidies of the Federal Office for Culture as well as by private donations.
